LEUNG Chi-shing is the principal clarinetist of Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong

LEUNG Chi-shing, principal clarinetist of Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, gave his debut recital at Hong Kong City Hall in 2008 immediately after obtaining a Master’s Degree at San Francisco Conservatory of Music. A well sought after clarinetist, in the same year, he was invited to perform in the “Rock Hard” program from the New Vision Arts Festival. A long time concertmaster of the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Band from 2001 to 2005, he performed Rimsky-Korsakov’s Clarinet Concerto and Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No.2 as soloist with the ensemble. Besides receiving the scholarship from Pro Arte, Leung received numerous scholarships and prizes to attend music festivals worldwide including Salzburg Festival in Austria and those in United States, Singapore, Korea, Japan and Hong Kong.
Leung’s teachers include Anthony Wong, Ben Freimuth, Mark Nuccio, Karl Leister and attended master classes with Fred Ormand, Eli Eban, Charles Neidich, Florent Heau and Nicolas Baldeyrou. As an ensemble musician, Leung has been actively involving in bands, ensembles and orchestras over the years, including the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong NeoWinds Orchestra, Music Office teachers’ wind ensemble, Chung Chi Orchestra of CUHK, HKUST Wind Ensemble, Parsons Band, Hong Kong Pops Wind Orchestra, Hong Kong Tertiary Students’ Ensemble and Hong Kong Performers Winds. Leung also holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

梁志承現為Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong單簧管首席,於2008年取得美國三藩市音樂學院的碩士學位後,迅即於該年的8月假香港大會堂演奏廳舉辦個人單簧管及鋼琴演奏會,並廣獲垂青,於多個音樂會中獻技,更在同年得到新視野藝術節的邀請,為節目「石堅」作演出。梁氏是香港青年管樂團資深的團長,自2001年起連續五年擔任該團領導的要職,期間更以獨奏者的身份演出林姆斯基高沙可夫及韋伯單簧管協奏曲。除了獲Pro Arte 的獎學金支持,梁氏更是多個獎學金及獎項的得主,屢獲贊助於世界各地的音樂節中亮相,包括日本霧島音樂節、奧地利薩爾斯堡音樂節及美國國際木管樂節等。
