Sarah Kapustin’s musical activities have taken her across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia, in performances as both soloist and chamber musician. Born in 1981 in Milwaukee, WI, she has performed with such orchestras as the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Indiana University Philharmonic, Juilliard Symphony, and the Pasadena Symphony. Sarah has received prizes and honors in numerous competitions, most recently 1st prize of the 2007 International Instrumental Competition in Markneukirchen, which will result in solo appearances throughout Germany and a recital radio broadcast. She has appeared in such prestigious concert venues as Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Sala Nezahualcoyotl in Mexico City, and has participated in masterclasses with Joshua Bell, Midori, Leonidas Kavakos and William Preucil.

An avid chamber musician, Sarah has appeared at several festivals, most notably Giverny Hors Les Murs (France), Sarasota (FL), and Marlboro Music Festival(VT) where she has performed with such distinguished artists as Claude Frank, Joseph Silverstein, David Soyer, and Kim Kashkashian. She was formerly a member of the Atlas Trio and the Dubinsky Quartet, prizewinner at the Fischoff and Coleman Chamber Music Competitions. She also performs regularly with the Arcturus Chamber Ensemble in Boston, and has played in several concerts with students and faculty at Indiana University and The Juilliard School. Sarah shows great interest in contemporary music as well, and has had the honor to work with several composers on their own compositions, including Henri Dutilleux, Kryzstof Penderecki and Ned Rorem.

Sarah received a Masters degree in violin performance at The Juilliard School with Robert Mann in May 2005. She previously received a Bachelor of Music and an Artist Diploma from Indiana University as a pupil of Mauricio Fuks, and formerly studied with Mimi Zweig and James Przygocki at the String Academy of Wisconsin. After receiving a Fulbright Scholarship, Sarah spent the 2006-7 school year in Paris as a student at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, studying chamber music
with Michel Strauss and Vladimir Mendelssohn. She was appointed concertmaster of the Orchestre des Lauréats du Conservatoire in January 2007, and also plays regularly with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Currently Sarah divides her professional life between Europe and the United States.
