Lam studied composition and orchestration with Prof. Lin Sheng-shih for many years. First prize winner in choral section at the Hong Kong Open Competition 1976, he graduated from the Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in composition with Law Wing-fai and Clarence Mak. His orchestral and ensemble works had been broadcasted by RTHK Radio 4 and performed overseas. "What Is Man" is one of his early compositions. Lam teaches modern composition and electronic music at many institutions. He is one of the active modern music adjudicators for Hong Kong Education Department “Schools Creative Showcase”, and commentary author for “The Chinese Symphonic Music Profiles” (2008). He is a full member of The Hong Kong Composers' Guild, C.A.S.H and the Music Society of Hong Kong.

作曲家：林建兒

林建兒師從林聲翕教授習作曲及管弦樂配器多年，曾獲1976年全港公開作曲比賽合唱曲首獎。他畢業於香港演藝學院音樂系，師隨羅永暉專研作曲、麥偉鑄學習電子音樂創作。林氏的管弦樂及重奏作品曾接受香港電台第四台之專訪、轉播及海外交流。「人算什麼」乃其早年之作。林氏曾任及現任多間學院之現代音樂創作、電子音樂、敲擊樂隊及管弦樂樂隊指揮及導師，並為教育局音樂創藝展之常任評判。現為2008年《中國交響音樂博覽》之專論作家之一，及香港作曲家聯會、香港作曲家及作詞家協會及樂韻雅集之正式會員。
