Audition Eligibility

Birthdate must fall on or after September 1, 1984
ABRSM Grade 8 or equivalent


Audition Period and Venue

First Round - 8 & 29 August 2009
Percussion and double bass – by appointment
Practice Room CP4, Hong Kong Cultural Centre
By popular demand, we are extending our audition period to the end of September, please apply as soon as possible.


Audition Fee

HK$60 non-refundable
Please write a crossed cheque payable to “Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong Limited” or deposit the audition fee into Bank of China account No. 01269700035761.



Audition music for the orchestral excerpts will be emailed to the candidates with confirmed appointments, so it is to the candidates’ advantage to apply early.

Guest Conductor - Geoffrey Simon

(London-based Australian conductor who has conducted world-class orchestras such as London Philharmonic Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra.His recording, The London Cello Sound, has been performed live for H.M. The Queen Elizabeth II and H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh of the United Kingdom.)

Pianist - Edward Auer

(First American prize-winner of the prestigious International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw as well as first-prize winner of the Concours Marguerite Long in Paris.)
